Product Candidates
Horizon Therapeutics is a late stage biopharmaceutical company focused on the development of prescription drugs for mild to moderate pain relief. We are creating novel therapies through innovative combinations of existing pharmaceutical products. The Company is building a portfolio of proprietary formulations that seek to improve safety, efficacy, and patient compliance.
Phase 3 trials for our lead investigational product candidate HZT-501 are completed with clinical results recently in 2008. HZT-501 met all primary endpoints, demonstrating a statistically significant reduction in the incidence of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID)-induced upper gastrointestinal (gastric and/or duodenal) ulcers in patients with mild-to-moderate pain when compared to ibuprofen alone. In addition to HZT-501, Horizon has a pipeline of follow-on pain/GI combination products in development. The Company believes that it will be able to develop a complementary portfolio of proprietary pain products using a similar accelerated clinical and regulatory timeline. The second product, HZT-602 is in preclinical development with an IND filed in October 2006.
